Nominated for a Grammy award tonight, Melanie Fiona’s “Wrong Side of a Love Song” called on actor Larenz Tate to direct the highly anticipated music video. A fan-favorite from her sophomore album The MF Life, the video gave Melanie the chance to try her hand at acting and I am sure her talented director had a lot to do with that. Check out behind-the-scenes footage below.

While she isn’t performing, attending award shows and shooting videos, Melanie Fiona is working on her third album which is expected to be her strongest body of work according to recent interviews.

During the press conference Q&A portion, the 31-year-old singer confirmed that she did lip sync during her Inauguration performance but she will most definitely be performing live during this Sunday’s Super Bowl. She briefly spoke about her daughter and her HBO special but politely passed over questions about a Destiny’s Child reunion and her pick for a Super Bowl champion. Watch a clip below.

Well it looks like the  fans aren’t the only ones excited about this Sunday’s halftime performance. Must See Video: Tupac Performs at Coachella 2012

A hologram of late Tupac Shakur hit the stage, during Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg’s Coachella set. In an innovative performance moment Pac performed “Hail Mary” and “2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted”. I’m sure those who got the chance to see this live it was like a trip to Disney. I’m grateful for the video. I hope somebody does a hologram of Biggie or Aaliyah next!

Who would you like to see a hologram of?

Letoya Luckett Releases Second Webisode of “Life, Love & Music”

I LOVE it when artist give us a peek into their personal and professional lives and no one does it better than Letoya Luckett. Gearing up to release her third studio album sometime this year, Luckett started “Life, Love & Music”, a series of webisodes about a month ago. The series is now on its second episode. She is really giving us a first hand look into the brand that is Letoya Luckett. She is super down to earth and easy to relate to.

Although Luckett may not be using the webisodes as a public relations tactic, I can’t help to think that it was a part of the branding and publicity strategic plan. Either way…Its brillant! See the very first episode below.

VIDEO: NYC Soul Train Flash Mob

This past Saturday (Feb. 4th), hundreds of Soul Train fans graced New York’s Times Square to recreate the famous Soul Train lines in a flash mob honoring Don Cornelius. The creator of Soul Train committed suicide last Wednesday. While people are shocked and overwhelmed with the sad news of Cornelius’ death, the show was always so energetic and fun making a flash mob an appropriate way to honor and remember such a pioneer.

Artist To Watch: @IggyAzalea

As of September of last year, the internet world has already deemed Iggy Azalea an Artist To Watch. Ever since, Azalea has managed to command attention and in doing so, created a pretty big following of #Azaleans.

If you frequent GMPR, you already know how much I love a good female rapper. In an industry that is male dominated, I think a female rapper either established or on the come up is a huge statement for women in general. Although most women wouldn’t want to be defined by some of their lyrics, you can’t help but feel a sense of empowerment when a track from a female rapper comes on the radio, in the club or on the net. With all that being said and my anger towards Remy’s continued stint in jail, I am super happy to see another female gracing the rap scene.

21-year-old Austrian native and LA based rapper, Iggy Azalea is stylish and lyrically bold. Azalea’s latest mixtape, Ignorant Art  and accompany visuals are a little all over the place but it’s provocative and fun and I appreciate that. Influenced by Tupac Shakur, her raw and hardcore tracks have led industry mavens to believe she is the next big thing in Hip Hop. She definitely has my attention and I’m interested to see how she will stand out in a land of Nicki Minaj.

Despite constant racial comments and  numerous comparisons, Azalea is steady making moves. It is not official but word is she is on the brink of a deal with Def Jam. Also, she admits to being linked to rapper A$AP Rocky. In an interview with VIBE she admitted that an attempted collaboration turned into something more substantial.

Seems like Iggy Azalea is on her way to having it all. If you aren’t familiar get acquainted with her work below.
