The Hollywood Reporter confirmed Wendy Williams and her husband/ manager Kevin Hunter have launched their very own Production company. Wendy Williams Productions is set to produce reality, game and talk shows for cable and broadcast channels.
“This is a dream come true,” Williams said. “Kevin and I have been kicking around so many ideas and are excited to be able to now bring them to life with our own production shingle. As anyone who watches my show knows, I am a huge fan of all reality and game shows, and I know a thing or two about talk. Lisa has spent a career creating and producing the kind of television shows I love, and we are thrilled to have her guide our development efforts. We don’t plan on wasting much time, so stay tuned for some must-see programming ahead.” [SOURCE: The Hollywood Reporter]
Many of us fell in love with Chef Roblé and his cooking crew on the first season of his self-titled BRAVO reality show. It was not only inspiring but refreshing to see a young black Chef on television running his own business and doing it well. The shows humor and minor drama with the staff was an added bonus.
I was a little nervous for a while patiently waiting for season 2 but thanks to an Instagram announcement and several photo hints, my nerves are gone. The second season of Chef Roblé & Co. will premiere February 10th on BRAVO. Are you looking forward to seeing what Chef Roblé and the team will cook up this season?
On the December 2nd episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Kim Zolciak will be leaving the show and will be starring in her own Bravo spinoff which will be an extension of the one she already had. In an exclusive interview with InTouch Weekly, Kim blames the show’s drama for her departure.
“I was eight months pregnant and there was so much drama; I just had to walk. I’ve taken on so much in the past five years, but this was the final straw. My priority was the child inside me.” Although I am sure Kim is happy she won,t have to share the spotlight with other women, leaving “RHOA” couldn’t have been easy? She mentioned, “I can’t say it was easy to end that chapter. After all, I met my husband through this show.”
Kim’s unnamed spin-off for “Don’t Be Tardy For The Wedding” will be a continuation of her new life with husband Kroy Bierman and their four children. Kim says “It’s going to a fun, lighthearted show about our crazy everyday life. My amazing husband is doing awesome in the NFL, we’re building a home, we have a teenager, a tween and two babies.” No premiere date has been set.
Will you miss Kim on the “RHOA”?
After leaving the music scene for a while and her struggles unfolding on Love & Hip Hop Atlanta, K. Michelle now has a new record deal. After gaining attention on the reality show, fans got a better understanding of the singer. Though some may have agreed with her cast-mate Rasheeda and deemed K. Michelle crazy, many fell in love with her raw and honest lyrics first heard on the show.
Like many reality television stars, K. Michelle used the show as a platform for her art and has been riding the wave ever since. Since the show aired, K. Michelle has put out a mixtape and done hundreds of shows and appearances. Hard work pays off!
K. Michelle signed a major record deal with Warner Bros. Records and shared her excitement with Singersroom. “I’m just really blessed to get a second chance. I have so much to sing about and so many stories to tell. I may not be the most polished or prissy R&B singer, but I do feel that I am the voice of a lot of women who don’t have a voice.”
Major congratulations to K. Michelle!
Since her BET co-host Terrence Jenkins joined the E! family, I think we have all been wondering what’s up next for Rocsi Diaz after the two departed from 106th & Park. Well, it’s official! Rocsi Diaz is now a part of the Entertainment Tonight team. She gave us a clips from her first red carpet with ET at the American Music Awards on her Instagram account. See some pics below.
Congratulations Rocsi! We’ve missed you on televisions screens.
Two days ago, the news broke that Tia Mowry would be leaving The Game to promote her other projects. Rumors were also spreading that Pooch Hall would not be returning for another season. Well, BET has confirmed.
“As a result of Pooch’s involvement on a new project, BET is in the process of reworking the casting and storyline of the show,” said a statement from the network. “That said, we hope both Pooch and Tia will make several guest appearances. While we miss the incredible adventures of Melanie and Derwin on ‘The Game,’ we appreciate all of their hard work, the laughs and wish them both the best in their future endeavors.” [SOURCE]
Over the last couple of weeks your favorite guilty pleasure Basketball Wives has been under the microscope and a major target for heavy criticism. Viewers have voiced their disgust for the way cast members are behaving on the show and are afraid their behavior reflects poorly on every day women. Shaunie addressed the constant fighting on the reunion show, “I feel that all these ladies take responsibility for what their actions are…and after seeing ourselves this season, it definitely was a lot more bad than good.” She continued “I’ve really tried to preach the whole ‘Let’s get some balance’ and now I think my voice is resonating.”
Despite online petitions and such negative scrutiny, Basketball Wives has been picked up for a fifth season. Although the viewers’ dissatisfaction has not put a stop to the show, the cast and producers have vowed to do things differently the next season. Evelyn Lozada, Shed Media & VH1 weighs in on the recent negative media attention.
“I’m confident that I speak for many of us on the show that when it comes to creating a better balance for television, we are all working very hard to do just that. Many of us are getting help for our inner issues and striving to portray a more positive image overall. Tahiti was just an example of all of us being a true work in progress…Hang in there with us, as we vow to grow and become better!” [SOURCE]
“Shed Media US is fully committed to telling the compelling stories of the Basketball Wives in a balanced way. Our producing partner Shaunie O’Neal feels strongly about this, and we fully agree with this stance. We support her as she encourages the cast members to work out issues in a non-violent fashion. We look forward to working with her and the rest of the cast on conveying more balance in the next season.”[SOURCE]
“Our viewers opinions always matter a great deal to us at VH1. Lately, there has been a lot of conversation about Basketball Wives, a series featuring strong, intelligent women with very passionate viewpoints which can sometimes escalate. We at VH1 agree with and support Shaunie and the show producers’ “no excessive physical confrontations” policy on the series moving forward. We are all committed to balancing the candid, bold excitement that the viewers have come to love in the series with storylines and representations they can be proud of. Shaunie has been a strong advocate for a more balanced approach to the show and we, along with our producing partners at Shed Media, are all in agreement about moving forward with that goal.” [SOURCE]
Oh Baby author Tia Mowry took to Twitter to announce her departure from her beloved character Melanie Barnett Davis and BET’s fan favorite The Game. Now that Tia will not be taping for season 6, she will keep busy promoting her book, season 2 of the Tia & Tamera and an ABC Family movie. I’m not sure how The Game will survive without Melanie but I guess if Single Ladies could keep it moving without Stacey Dash than so can The Game. At least I hope they can. Will you stick around to watch season 6 without Tia as Melanie?
A hologram of late Tupac Shakur hit the stage, during Dr Dre and Snoop Dogg’s Coachella set. In an innovative performance moment Pac performed “Hail Mary” and “2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted”. I’m sure those who got the chance to see this live it was like a trip to Disney. I’m grateful for the video. I hope somebody does a hologram of Biggie or Aaliyah next!
Who would you like to see a hologram of?
Today, Jade Alston gives us her first visual from “Single On A Saturday Night”. “Searching”, a fan favorite was written by Alston, produced by MPIII Productions and the video was directed by Gianni Lee.
