Nominated for a Grammy award tonight, Melanie Fiona’s “Wrong Side of a Love Song” called on actor Larenz Tate to direct the highly anticipated music video. A fan-favorite from her sophomore album The MF Life, the video gave Melanie the chance to try her hand at acting and I am sure her talented director had a lot to do with that. Check out behind-the-scenes footage below.

While she isn’t performing, attending award shows and shooting videos, Melanie Fiona is working on her third album which is expected to be her strongest body of work according to recent interviews.

Melanie Fiona Releases NEW Video for “4AM”

Melanie Fiona releases a video for “4AM”, the first single off of her sophomore album titled The MF Life which will hit stores December 6th. The video, directed by Colin Tilley, is just as emotional, honest and powerful as all of her other videos. This video may portray a typical night for some women. Sad but true.

Over the weekend, I had the pleasure of volunteering for Philadelphia’s Global Fusion Festival. In between banding V.I.P Guest and manning the press box (more like assisting), I managed to take a few pictures with my handy Iphone and I do mean a few. Unfortunately, I didn’t capture half of the festival’s essence.

For 8 hours, a diverse group of communities convened at the beautiful Penn’s Landing Great Plaza for a taste of Philly, deeply rooted art and fashion, cultural performers and music’s hottest artist. Anthony David, Brenda K. Starr, J-King y Maximan, OCD: Moosh & Twist and Shurwayne Winchester rocked the stage for the Festival’s Carnival theme. Major recording artists Meek Mill, Maino, Estelle and Melanie Fiona were an extra special treat for the crowd.

While manning the press box, I was front row for Melanie Fiona’s performance. As soon as she hit the stage, I was paralyzed by how beautiful she was but within the first note she sung her voice stole my heart. Today, we don’t have a plethora of GOOD singers so when you hear a voice that deserved to be signed it is undeniable. Melanie gave a performance which all artist strive for. It was raw and didn’t seem  super rehearsed. She truly connected with the crowed. I was a fan before but now I can say she is easily one of my favorite singers. Check out some videos that surfaced the net over the weekend.

“It Kills Me”

Overall, the festival made for a perfect Saturday. If you missed it this year, I’m begging you not to miss it next year!
